About Me

Cybersecurity engineer working in AppSec and DevSecOps, with a binary-exploitation past and present.

Hi, I’m Erik. A cybersecurity engineer doing application security and DevSecOps work at a financial institution, where I lead adoption of vulnerability prioritization, integrate AppSec tooling across the org, evaluate AI-assisted security tooling for developers, and run secure-coding education.

During my time in the defense contracting industry, I did penetration testing, vulnerability research, fuzzing, and binary work on tactical components of various programs, big and small.

I started programming back in 2012 in C, then C++/Java/Python/SQL in college, and eventually transitioned to Cybersecurity after my first job in that field. C has stayed with me the whole time, and now has me gravitating back to it for both work and personal projects.

These days I’m working my way deeper into firmware, binary exploitation/defense, and embedded security.

Outside of security work I enjoy the outdoors kayaking, spending time with my wife and family, and playing old retro games from the early 2000s on a CRT. I also have a soft spot for understanding how older hardware, cars, and dirtbikes work as well.
